The Selecter’s lead singer Pauline Black OBE confirmed that their forthcoming shows this Summer, including our own show at Paisley Town Hall, will go ahead saying “The Selecter will continue to perform, bringing the message & spirit of 2-tone to audiences everywhere” following the devastating news that original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson died last week.

The Selecter is led by their iconic frontwoman Pauline Black OBE and co-fronted by original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson with original drummer Charley ‘Aitch’ Bembridge. Pauline is one of very few women in the 2-Tone scene - often referred to as the Queen of Ska.

Known the world over for hits including “Three Minute Hero,” “Missing Words,” “Too Much Pressure” and “On My Radio” The Selecter continue to tour and release new music proving that 2-Tone is still as relevant and important as it was 40 years ago. They released their much-acclaimed new album Human Algebra in April 2023.

The Selecter recently supported Blur at Wembley and also performed live at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony in Birmingham. The anarchic passion that fuelled Selecter gigs during the original 2-Tone era is still there well and as they continue to perform around the world.

The outpouring of love and respect for Gaps has been heartfelt and totally overwhelming to read. Everybody adored Gaps & so many of you said what a gentleman he was when you met him at the hundreds of shows we have done over the years.

It is The Selecter’s 45th anniversary year, and every year that I have shared the stage with Gaps feels very precious at the moment. He was a wonderful singing partner, friend and consummately elegant performer. Initially from the humblest of beginnings in St.Kitts, but throughout his life, never forgetting from whence he came as he graced stages all over the world"
