The Paisley Music Trail: Punk, Paolo and the Poet Weaver
From its
trailblazing folk and punk scenes to Paolo Nutini’s big break and the
enduring legacy of Gerry Rafferty, Paisley has always punched above its
weight musically. Glasgow Music City Tours are proud to present the Paisley
Music Trail, a bespoke guided walking tour developed for Paisley Book
Festival, which follows a compact route through the historic town centre,
touching on Scotland’s first rock’n’roll riot, the pop appeal of the Paisley
pattern, weaver poet Robert Tannahill and how Paisley became a punk
mecca.
Join us in Paisley Town Hall before we set off around the town to discover
sites of musical significance. The event will include readings from Glasgow’s
Greatest Hits, a new pocket compendium of tall tales and fascinating facts
from the UK’s first UNESCO City of Music.
Please note this event will involve moving around outdoors so please dress
for the weather and a basic level of walking fitness will be required. Age
guidance: 10+.
