Freedom to Roam: Poems on Place
Today’s Poet’s
Corner features three poets whose work explores how the places and spaces we
inhabit shape our ever-evolving sense of belonging. Theresa Muñoz’s second
collection Archivum conjures a walk through Edinburgh’s historic monuments
and draws on research into objects belonging to significant Scottish figures,
to examine how we tell and record our own stories. Laura T Fyfe’s latest
collection, Endless Blue, propels us towards the expansive possibilities of
self and identity, whilst remaining rooted in Scottish landscape and
language. And through his powerful reading from Voices from the Soil: Wounds
and Wisdom, Mohammed Salihu narrates an immigrant’s experience of adaptation
and resilience, particularly in relation to the African and Caribbean diaspora
in Scotland.
Poet’s Corner is a lunch hour taking place each day of the festival,
showcasing exciting new work and voices in Scottish poetry. Come along to be
challenged and inspired!
