David Keenan: Boyhood
Following a triumphant debut at the festival last year alongside Belle and Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch, one of Scotland’s most explosive and experimental novelists is back with a bang in his latest work of fiction. Opening with the abduction of a young boy outside a Glasgow football ground in 1979, David Keenan’s beguiling new novel, Boyhood, follows the plight of a brother searching for answers amidst his grief. Finding himself gifted with redemptive, messianic powers, this surreal tale spans time and place and features an intriguing array of characters who help Aaron Murray on his way. Boyhood has already won plaudits from Irvine Welsh, Kirsty Gunn, and Karl Geary, who chairs this event.
